The Lady Tigers defeat East Mississippi in the MACCC semifinals

The CCC women's basketball team has advanced to the finals of the 2022 MACCC Women's Basketball Tournament. In the opening round of the tournament, Coahoma defeated Itawamba 68-56. Earlier today, the Lady Tigers faced East Mississippi in the semifinals.

Coahoma was outscored 12-6 in the opening quarter, but led 22-21 at halftime. The Lady Tigers tallied 24 points in the third quarter, while limiting EMCC to 18 points in the second half. CCC won the game 57-39. Coahoma is now 19-5 (11-3 MACCC) this season; the East Mississippi Lady Lions are 12-12 (8-6 MACCC).

Nakia Cheatham tallied a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds for CCC. Elishia Wilson recorded 11 points and six rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Ashanti Backus, Jeanee Anderson, and Tiara Abron each scored at least six points for CCC. Brayland Ferguson, Rolonda Willis, Emmia Johnson, and Mercedes Hayes also scored for Coahoma.

In the MACCC finals, the Lady Tigers will play against the winner of today's Northwest Mississippi vs. Jones College game. The MACCC championship game will be played on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Pearl River Community College. Thursday's game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
