The Lady Tigers win 72-58 at East Mississippi

Box Score The CCC women's basketball team played at East Mississippi Community College on Monday night.

Nakia Cheatham tallied nine points for Coahoma in the opening quarter to go along with six points by Elishia Wilson. The Lady Tigers led 19-13 midway through the first half.

Wilson, Ashanti Backus, Jeanee Anderson, Rolonda Willis, and Tiana Abron each scored for Coahoma in the second quarter. The Lady Tigers recorded 11 points in the quarter, but were outscored by five. At halftime, CCC had a 30-29 lead.

Backus made two 3-pointers for the Lady Tigers in the third quarter, while Wilson tallied five points. The score was 47-46 in favor of the Lady Tigers with one quarter left to play in the game.

Coahoma made five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter en route to a 72-58 victory. Tiara Abron and Nakia Cheatham each recorded two of those five 3's, while Ashanti Backus recorded one.

Tiara Abron, Backus, Cheatham, and Wilson each scored at least 12 points for CCC. Backus led all scorers with 20 points.

The Lady Tigers are now 12-5 (6-3 MACCC) this season; EMCC is 8-9 (5-4 MACCC).

CCC's next game is scheduled to be against Holmes Community College on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Pinnacle.
