The Tigers host Pearl River in second-straight home game

Coahoma Community College defeated Hinds Community College 21-14 in last week's season opener. The victory against a talented HCC team proved that CCC football is no longer what it used to be.

The Tigers will play at James E. Miller Stadium again this week in a matchup against the Pearl River Community College Wildcats. PRCC lost to Mississippi Delta Community College 31-6 in its season opener last week.

When asked about Pearl River, CCC offensive coordinator Emmanuel McCray said that the Wildcats are a "talented team." McCray also said that it will be important for the Tigers to be "fundamentally sound and schematically sound" in order to get the victory.

Last week, the Pearl River defense played very aggressively. Once again, McCray stressed the importance of playing disciplined football. "We have to protect the ball; limit turnovers; give our defense a chance to defend us and give our offense a chance to continue to stay on the field and make plays," McCray said. Coahoma was largely able to execute that game plan last week as the Tigers had no turnovers.

Last week's game was a special one for McCray as it marked the first time that he had ever called offensive plays. "It was fun," McCray said. "Coming from Ole Miss and being around a lot of different offensive coordinators… I try to take a lot of things I've learned from those guys and put it in my game plan."

If CCC defeats PRCC tonight, the Tigers would be on a four-game winning streak dating back to last season.

The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the stadium's entrance gate prior to the game. The matchup will also be broadcasted live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on the college's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
