CCC defeats East Mississippi 65-50 in Coahoma’s season opener

Box Score On Thursday night, the Coahoma Community College women's basketball team hosted East Mississippi Community College at the Pinnacle. The Coahoma Lady Tigers never trailed, and led by double-digits throughout the majority of the game.

In the opening quarter, sophomore guard Nakia Cheatham and freshman forward Elishia Wilson combined to score 13 points for CCC. The Lady Tigers led 18-13 at the midway point of the first half.

Coahoma freshman guard Tiara Abron connected on two 3-pointers and scored a total of eight points in the second quarter as the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Lions 20-14. At halftime, the score was 38-27 in favor of CCC.

Five players scored for the Lady Tigers in the third quarter, and Coahoma led 49-36 going into the fourth.

CCC connected on seven field goals in the final quarter en route to a 65-50 victory over EMCC. Coahoma was balanced offensively as 10 players scored for head coach Stephanie Murphy's team.

The Lady Tigers' next game is on Monday, Nov. 8, at Mississippi Delta. The matchup is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
