CCC falls short against Northwest

The atmosphere at James E. Miller Stadium was special on Thursday night. Coahoma Community College football fans filled the stands and did a great job supporting the Tigers. "They came out; they came out to support us," CCC head coach Travis Macon said. Macon went on to say that the team is thankful for the support, but wanted to "put on a better show" for the fans as Coahoma lost to Northwest 42-12.

The game also marked the debut of The Tiger Tunnel. "It looked good out there," Macon said. "I think the fans really like it; so, we're very impressed with it."

With the score 14-0 in favor of NWCC near the end of the opening quarter, running back Jakobi Jackson scored for the Tigers on a two-yard touchdown run. The Rangers would respond with 21 points in the second quarter to make the score 35-6 at halftime.

Coahoma scored the first touchdown of the second half when quarterback Mekhi Norris connected with tight end Trayvon Moore on a three-yard TD pass with 4:30 remaining in the third quarter. The final score was 42-12 in favor of NWCC.

"I thought we did do some things well," Macon said. "We gotta dig down deep and get over this one and learn from it and come back and build off what we did in the second half. I thought we played better in the second half."

CCC's next game is on Thursday, Oct. 14, at East Mississippi Community College. The matchup is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on the college's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
