It's a special week for the Coahoma Community College football team. It's CCC's final home game of the regular season, which means that it will be Sophomore Night at James E. Miller Stadium.
Coahoma 4-3 (3-2 North) faces Northeast Mississippi Community College 1-6 (1-3 North) on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. With two games remaining in the regular season, the Tigers have an opportunity to finish the season with an impressive 6-3 (4-2 North) record. "I think it would say a lot," CCC offensive coordinator Emmanuel McCray said about Coahoma potentially going 6-3 this season.
One of the obstacles between the Tigers and a six-win regular season is a talented NEMCC team. "They don't really hurt themselves," McCray said about Northeast. "They are a pretty solid and sound team with pretty good athletes."
As mentioned previously, it will be Sophomore Night at James E. Miller Stadium. The players being honored are: Kennique Bonner-Steward; Dez Williams; Reginald Johnson; Rosco Willis; Jordan Montgomery; Kasimir Absolu; Daylyn Croom; Jakobi Jackson; Aikee Matthews; Marlon Windham; Wayne Toussant; Allen Robertson; Darius Smith; Caleb Canada; KeAundre McCullough; Deldrionn Amos; Latarius Carr; Trejan Anderson; Ryan Hampton; Jacobeyon Lane; Marvin Dickey; Zacchaeus Burnett; Terrence Shanks; TJ Storey; Darius Baker; Donovon Ross; Justin Taylor; Torris Robinson; Joel Rose; Josh Dixon; Zelion Chestnut; Timaje Porter; and Kaleb Brown.
This group of players have had a tremendous impact on the CCC football program and have helped the Tigers win seven of their past 12 games.
McCray is "extremely proud" of the players that will be recognized tomorrow. "We're definitely grateful for all (of) those guys."
Tickets will be sold at the stadium's entrance gate prior to the game. Attendees are asked to follow COVID-19 protocols. Masks are required to be worn at all times with the exception of eating and drinking. The matchup will also broadcast live at
www.coahomasports.com/watch and on the college's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
