CLARKSDALE- It's that time of the year when the Delta starts to erupt over Coahoma and Mississippi Delta's revisit of their crosstown rivalry. Both teams are looking to get bragging rights and turn around a 0-4 (0-2 MACJC North) start.
Coahoma is coming off a 49-28 loss to Itawamba. They had their best offensive output of the season with 503 yards of total offense including 349 passing yards and 154 rushing yards.
Myron Norfleet led the Tigers with 25 of 48 passes for 340 yards, 11 carries for 60 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Donnie Corley finished with 10 catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Stefan Harmon had eight catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers' defense forced two turnovers. They gave up 471 yards of total offense including 257 passing yards and 214 rushing yards.
Coahoma has faced some challenges this season especially with injuries, young starters, and other issues. Head Coach
Steven Miller knows his team is really working hard to get better.
Mississippi Delta is coming off a 54-13 loss to East Mississippi. Tyrique McAfee and Marquise McCoy lead the Trojans' offense. McAfee had two touchdown passes last week. McCoy had one touchdown catch.
The Trojans' defense has been giving up over 49 points each game including 471 yards of total offense.
Something has got to give in the Battle of the Delta. Coahoma is looking for their third straight victory over Mississippi Delta. The Tigers defeated the Trojans 40-0 last season at James E. Miller Stadium.
