Lady Tigers Begins A New Era

CLARKSDALE-  Coahoma Lady Tigers Basketball starts a new chapter in the 2018-19 season. Head Coach Stephanie Murphy and Assistant Coach Isaiah Butler arrive to Coahoma on a mission to turnaround Lady Tigers Basketball on and off the court.

The Lady Tigers has been working extremely hard in the offseason to change a dark past to a brighter future. Coach Murphy has instilled hard work, dedication and discipline to this team. Some of the veteran players had to adjust with the new coaching staff. The response was very  positive as Coahoma knows that hard work is going to pay off in the long run.

Coahoma is returning 5 players that's ready to lead the Lady Tigers to the promised land. Walneika Holmes led Coahoma in scoring averaging 21 points a game last season. She looking to expand her game with her defensive intensity and offensive efficiency.

Khiyee Robinson brings a ton of experience as a floor general. Dzondria Young brings a lot of inside experience and looking to expand her game. Ukari Pimpton and Faith Harrington looking to expand their roles as premier playmakers.

The Lady Tigers has some newcomers that are ready to strike. Arianna Thigpen brings a lot of intensity that could give Coahoma a big spark. Essence Lambert and Kiara McCollum are sharp shooters that can score at will.

Coach Murphy has one big challenge to overcome is numbers. The Lady Tigers has only nine players on roster this season. They overcame that challenge going 2-1 in the preseason.

Coahoma's new coaching staff wants to change the attitude of the team and turn the Lady Tigers to winners on and off the court.

Coach Murphy and Coach Butler are confident and hopeful that Coahoma Women's Basketball can go to higher heights in the NJCAA.

The Lady Tigers will be on the road for the 1st two weeks of the season before their home opener against Arkansas Baptist on Thursday Nov. 15, 2018, at 6 p.m.

Coahoma will open the season in the Rockets Tip-Off Classic at Camden, Arkansas. They will battle South Arkansas University Tech on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at 6 p.m. One day later, The Lady Tigers will take on Arkansas Baptist on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. Viewers can catch the game online live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on Coahoma's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
