Mighty Tigers On A Mission

CLARKSDALE-  Head Coach Micheal Stringer has been building the Coahoma Basketball program brick by brick. Coahoma has been making strides on and off the court. Last season, the Tigers was very competitive and starting to have a winning attitude. Despite winning three games, Coahoma lost 12 games by 3-5 points. The Tigers showed signs that they can play with the best. The Mighty Tigers are on a mission for a winning season and a postseason berth.

Coahoma is returning 5 players that are ready to lead the Mighty Tigers to the promised land. Dequan Morris led Coahoma in scoring averaging 10 points and four rebounds a game last season. He's a big-time playmaker with some big game experience. Denori Berry is a really good shooter for 6'7 and looking to expand his game. Ricky Smith is a defensive catalyst looking to become a true floor general. Robert Boyd and Jaborris Frazier are looking to take charge in the frontcourt.

"We brought some great kids back that did well on the court and the classroom," said Stringer. "They are kids that's coachable and has discipline."

The Tigers has some newcomers that are ready to make a big impact. Cornelius Holly is an explosive player that could run the floor really well. Dusan Bubanja is a big man that could be strong in the paint. Alphonzo Green is a very quick guard that could make big plays. Terry
Williams and Kendall Richardson are sharpshooters that plays with no fear.

"We're glad to have everyone on board this season," said Stringer. "One is not bigger than the other. We can get the job done when all of us can work together collectively."

Last season, Coahoma had some huge success in the classroom with the 3.1 GPA during the 2017-18 school year. This is the highest team GPA in Head Coach Michael Stringer's tenure. Four sophomores signed to play basketball at Fisk University and College of St. Francis. Coach Stringer loves to his players achieve their goals.

Coach Stringer is very confident and excited that the Coahoma Basketball program is on the rise. He's hopeful that Coahoma is ready to make the postseason. "I think this is our year and our time is now," said Stringer. "We finally put that foundation together and now we will see the results."
