Box Score FULTON — Lady Tiger Basketball put up a great fight but fell to Itawamba, the #2 team in the MACJC North, Monday by a final score of 78-67. Kayla Rogers finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds.
CCC got strong games from Rogers, who scored at least 10 points for the 4th time in the last 5 games, as well as Melvinisha Jenkins, who racked up 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Tomaja Shaw, who scored 10 points while grabbing a personal season-high 8 rebounds.
Itawamba got out to an early 20-9 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and the early deficit proved too much for the Lady Tigers to overcome. The team was able to get back within 5 early in the 3rd and within 8 at the end of the 3rd quarter, but strong play from ICC put it out of reach down the stretch.
ICC was led by Jabria Pounds, who finished with a game-high 23 points, and Marlee Hatcher, who scored 15. The win improved the Lady Indians to 8-1 in divisional play and 13-6 overall.
The Lady Tigers (0-9, 1-18 MACJC North) return home Thursday to take on Northwest. The teams played a closely-contested 40 minutes January 23rd that ended in a narrow 95-89 victory for the Lady Rangers. Tip is slated for 6 pm.
