WESSON– Coahoma Community College was looking to even the score against Copiah-Lincoln Community College. The Wolves (7-0) made big runs and big plays in a 93-63 victory on Thursday night at Mullen Gym. They shot 51 percent from the field, including nine 3 pointers.
The Tigers took a 6-5 lead with three pointers by DeNori Berry and Malik Bailey. That was their only lead of the game. Co-Lin took charge 18-9 with three pointers by Jonathan Floyd and Anthony Jones.
Then Youry White chipped in with a pair of layups. Co-Lin led 42-26 at the half. The Wolves pulled away in the 2nd half. Floyd and Jones scored another pair of layups. Co-Lin had their biggest lead 89-59.
Co-Lin had five players in double figures. Jones led the Wolves with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists. White had 17 points, 21 rebounds, and three assists. Lazorian McNulty scored 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Jones and Floyd scored 13 points each.
Coahoma had two players in double figures. Tarquise Harris scored 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists. DaQuan Morris scored 12 points and six rebounds.
The Tigers go to 2-7 in the season. They will play their first game in the MACJC Northern Division against Northeast Mississippi Community College. The game is set for 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at The Pinnacle.
It will be part of a double header that's preceded by Coahoma vs Northeast Mississippi women's game at 6 p.m.
