Box Score CLARKSDALE - CCC Basketball scored its biggest win of the season Monday night in The Pinnacle, downing Northeast, who came into play tied for the #1 seed in the MACJC North, 76-72. Da'Quan Forrest finished with 19 points for the home squad in the upset.
CCC came out of the gate strong, playing even with the visitors for the first half, but Northeast would turn a 2-point halftime lead into a 12-point advantage early in the 2nd half. The Tigers refused to let them run away with it though, and key 3's by Forrest and Shannon Bailey as well as tough interior defense helped CCC back in.
With the two squads locked at 69 late, Coahoma got a key jumper from Dewuan Fowler to fall from the 15 feet out. Fowler would later nail two free throws and put in a key layup off an inbound from Terry Henderson to ice the win.
The victory was the second for CCC Basketball vs. a MACJC North #1 in the last 7 days. The Lady Tigers upset then MACJC North #1 East MS in The Pinnacle February 8th, 80-70.
Da'Quan Forrest was the game's leading scorer with 19. Fowler finished with 15 and Bailey added 12. Northeast was led by Leroy Buchanon, who netted 16. As a team, CCC made 13 3's, their third-highest output of the season.
CCC (5-17, 2-9) head to Delta to close out the season Thursday. Tip in Morehead is slated for 8 pm.
