Box Score 2 NICEVILLE, Florida - The CCC Basketball Tigers fell twice at the Northwest Florida Invitational/Quality Inn Classic this weekend in Niceville, Florida despite breakout games from sophomore DJ Woods. The team will return to action this evening in The Pinnacle.
The Tigers took on the #1 team in the nation Northwest Florida State on Friday on the campus of NWFL. The team stayed close until late in the 1st half, mostly on the strength of a 22 point, 6-rebound performance in the 1st half by sophomore DJ Woods. A transfer from Itawamba, Woods' strong inside-out game kept the Tigers in the contest before Northwest pulled away in the closing minutes of the first.
The Raiders would open a more sizeable advantage in the 2nd on the way to a 114-62 victory. The home side was led by guard Andres Feliz, who scored 22 points in 24 minutes.
The Tigers closed the Classic Saturday afternoon vs. Motlow State. Once again, Woods starred, accumulating 12 points and 6 rebounds. But the interior game of Motlow proved too much, as the Bucks took the finale 74-42. Guard Frank Anthony finished with 8 points and 3 assists, and Zyshonne Burnette added 6 points of his own.
The Tigers take on Copiah-Lincoln tonight at 8 pm in The Pinnacle. A live stream will be available on coahomasports.com/watch.
