Box Score CLARKSDALE - Tiger Basketball dropped a heartbreaker to the East Central Warriors Thursday in The Pinnacle, falling 64-62 on last second free throws. LeDarius Woods finished with 18 points in the contest.
A slow start hampered the Tigers early before the team bounced back late in the 1st half to trim an early dozen point deficit down to 5 before the break. Woods led the side early, on his way to a team-high 18. 4 of his 5 field goals in the game came from 3-point land.
Malik Bailey and Frank Anthony led a surge in the 2nd that tied the contest at 62 with approximately 30 seconds remaining. Bailey shot the ball well from deep himself, going 3 of 6 from 3-Land and finishing with 11 points.
Key free throws by Jaylon Chiles with 8 seconds remaining gave the lead back to East Central. A Zyshonne Burnett potential game-winner from beyond the arc was just off the mark as time expired, giving the W to ECCC. The Warriors were led by Chiles and Antonio Clark, each of whom finished with 11 points.
The Tigers take to the road and battle Northwest Florida State at the Northwest Florida State Invitational in Niceville, FL November 4th at 7:30.
