CLARKSDALE, Miss. - Coahoma Community College Director of Athletics Selina Reid was appointed as a voting member to the National Junior College Athletic Association Appeals Committee for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Reid will serve alongside athletic leaders from two-year institutions nationwide while representing Coahoma Community College, NJCAA Region 23, and the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference. The national committee meets weekly via Zoom to evaluate appeals submitted by member colleges, ensuring decisions uphold association bylaws, consistency, and due process for student-athletes.
"I am humbly grateful for the opportunity to serve as a 2026-2027 voting member of the NJCAA Appeals Committee," Reid said. "I am honored by the confidence placed in me and look forward to serving with integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to fairness, due process, and student-athlete success."
Coahoma Community College President Dr. Valmadge T. Towner commended Reid for her selection and her continued contribution to athletic administration.
"We are excited to hear of Mrs. Reid's selection," Towner said. "She is a lifelong learner, easy to work with, and always looking for ways to improve herself and expand her work capacity. The appointment builds on Reid's service within national athletics governance. A participant in the inaugural 2024 NJCAA Aspiring Leaders Program, she served as an ex officio member of the NJCAA Eligibility Committee during the 2024-2025 year. She has also presented on eligibility standards at both the state and national levels.
Reid credited Towner for supporting her professional development and expanding her administrative reach beyond campus.
"I am especially grateful to President Dr. Valmadge T. Towner for his leadership, encouragement, and continued support," Reid said. "Those opportunities have allowed me to grow professionally, serve beyond our campus, and represent Coahoma Community College at the state and national levels."
Reid's term on the committee begins with the 2026-2027 academic year, reinforcing Coahoma's dedication to active leadership and governance in collegiate athletics across the region and the nation.
