Flenorl Inducted into MACCC Sports Hall of Fame

PEARL, MS — Richard Flenorl was officially inducted into the Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame on April 22 during a ceremony held at the Muse Center on the Rankin campus in Pearl. One honoree from each MACCC school was recognized that evening. Flenorl is a retired sales executive with more than forty years of sales and management experience. His professional background includes serving as Senior Area Manager, Trade Marketing, for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation, Account Executive for Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, and Senior Territory Manager for Reynolds American Incorporated. Throughout Richard's career, he demonstrated people-oriented leadership, strong business acumen, and excellence in customer service.

Richard has been an active participant in his community, previously serving on the board of directors for the Memphis Urban League, the Memphis Black Business Association, and the advisory board for the Memphis Regional Sickle Cell Council. He is a recipient of the Black Business Association Benny Award for "Most Involved Corporate Professional" and is listed in Marquis Who's Who in the South and Southwest. He served as president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association Spouse's Club in 2008.

He graduated from Coahoma Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree in Sociology and Political Science in 1975. Richard lettered in basketball and baseball at Coahoma Junior College and in 1975, he served as captain of the basketball team. He was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, served as a Student Government Association representative and received both the Athletic and Scholastic recognitions. Richard was inducted into the 2024 Coahoma Community College Sports Hall of Fame. He is a life member of  the Coahoma Community College Alumni Association. 

Richard is a 1977 graduate of Birmingham Southern College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He was a scholarship athlete and forward for the Birmingham Southern Panthers basketball team. He continues to maintain his lifelong enthusiam for sports and has seen firsthand how participation in athletics can help build character and encourage healthier lifestyles.

Richard is a member of the Greenwood C.M.E. Church in Memphis, TN where he serves as chair of the Trustee Board.
