The CCC baseball team faced East Central on Friday, April 29, in a doubleheader. The games were originally scheduled to be played at the Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex, but the series was held a Lee Academy.
In the opening matchup, Coahoma trailed 8-0 in the middle of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the inning with two outs, Josiah Rivera scored off an RBI single by Donovan Shead. Ethan McNatt hit a two-run home run on the ensuing at bat.
The Tigers trailed 9-3 after the top of the seventh inning. Coahoma had a very impressive start to the bottom of the inning as the Tigers recorded three solo home runs in the first four at bats. Andrew O'Neal, Zales Lewis, and Rivera were responsible for the homers. CCC trailed 9-6 going into the eighth inning. Despite Coahoma's efforts, ECCC won 10-6 in nine innings.
In the second game, CCC trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the first inning. The side began with a swinging strikeout, but was followed by a double from Lewis. On the ensuing at bat, Rivera recorded a two-run home run for the Tigers. East Central led 3-2 after the first inning, and went on to win the game 23-3 in five innings.
Coahoma is now 7-29 (2-24 MACCC) this season; ECCC is 29-15 (15-13 MACCC).
