Coahoma baseball falls against No. 6 MCC in season finale

The CCC baseball team faced No. 6 Meridian Community College in a doubleheader at Mississippi College on Monday, May 2, 2022. The two-game series was originally scheduled to be played at the Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex on Saturday, April 9, but was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

In the first game, Coahoma trailed 8-0 in the middle of the fourth inning. CCC's Anyelo Sanchez recorded a double on the opening at bat of the bottom of the fourth inning. On the ensuing at bat, Sanchez scored off an RBI single by Anthony Newson.

Ethan McNatt singled on the following at bat, but Coahoma would be held to one run in the side. Each team scored one run in the fifth inning, and Meridian went on to win the game 15-2 in six innings.

In the second matchup, Josiah Rivera gave CCC a 1-0 lead when he hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning.

MCC responded with seven runs in the top of the second inning en route to winning the game 13-1 in five innings.

The Tigers finish the 2022 season 7-31 (2-26 MACCC). No. 6 MCC is now 33-11 (21-7 MACCC).
