The CCC softball team hosted Hinds Community College at the Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
In the opening game, Hinds held a 6-0 lead after two innings of play. Coahoma did not allow another run until the final inning, but HCC won the matchup 9-0 in seven innings.
Hinds scored first in the second matchup as the Lady Eagles led 2-0 in the middle of the first inning. In the bottom of the inning, Coahoma had two runners on base with two outs when an RBI single by Ashanti Stephens allowed Kelcee Townsend to score.
On the ensuing at bat, Stephens and Kahlena Hentz scored off a two-RBI double by Ziay Graves. The Lady Tigers led 3-2 going into the second inning.
Hinds responded with two runs in the top of the second inning, but CCC countered with one run in the bottom of the inning. The score was tied 4-4 going into the third inning.
Coahoma tallied six runs from the fifth inning through the seventh inning, but HCC won the second game of the day 23-10 in seven innings.
The Lady Tigers are now 5-35 (0-24 MACCC) this season; Hinds is 20-19 (13-11 MACCC).
