Box Score On Monday afternoon, the CCC women's basketball team played against Itawamba in the 2022 MACCC Women's Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Tigers began the game with a 15-5 run, and led 18-9 at the end of the opening quarter.
Coahoma scored the first 11 points of the second quarter off two 3-pointers by Ashanti Backus and five points from Jeanee Anderson. CCC led by as many as 20 points in the quarter. At halftime, the Lady Tigers led 37-21.
Itawamba trimmed CCC's lead to single digits in the third quarter, but Coahoma led 46-36 with one quarter left in the game. CCC led 48-44 with 5:55 remaining, but the Lady Tigers won the game 68-56.
Backus led all scorers with 24 points, while going 4-of-8 from 3-PT range. Jeanee Anderson, Nakia Cheatham, and Elishia Wilson also scored in double figures for CCC. Coahoma outrebounded ICC 46-31, while also going 22-of-26 at the free-throw line.
The CCC Lady Tigers are now 18-5 this season; ICC is 14-9. In the semifinals, Coahoma will play against the winner of East Mississippi vs. Southwest Mississippi. That semifinal matchup will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 1:00 p.m. Each game of this season's conference tournament is being played at Pearl River Community College.
