CCC defeats Northwest Mississippi 80-62

The CCC men's basketball team defeated Northwest Mississippi by 18 points on Thursday night. Five players scored at least 11 points for the Tigers.

Coahoma tallied a 9-0 run near the midway mark of the opening half, which gave CCC a 23-12 lead with 8:41 left before halftime. At the half, CCC's lead had been extended to 15 points with a score of 40-25.

The Tigers continued to extend their lead early in the second half as Coahoma led 56-31 with 16:15 remaining in the game. CCC held a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the game en route to an 80-62 win.

Coahoma was led in scoring by O'zhell Jackson, who tallied a triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He also registered five blocks and two steals.

Kei Johnson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to go along with two steals. Johnson tallied six offensive rebounds.

Jaqai Murray recorded 14 points, while going 7-of-11 from the floor. Ben Galmore contributed 12 points and Dontae Prescott registered 11. Jo Perez, Amarion Hoggan, and Kavan Wooten combined to score 14 points for CCC.

The Tigers are now 3-1 (0-0 MACCC) this season; NWCC is now 1-4 (0-0 MACCC).

CCC's next game is scheduled to be against the Royal Ambassadors on Monday, Nov. 14, at 6:00 p.m. That matchup will mark Coahoma's first home game of the 2022-23 season.
