CCC defeats Mississippi Delta with 52-point second half

Box Score The CCC men's basketball team picked up its first win of the head coach Dell Cannon era against Mississippi Delta on Monday night. The Tigers had a tremendous second half that saw CCC make 11 3-pointers, connect on numerous dunks, and outscore MDCC 52-21. On several occasions, Coahoma made exciting plays that led to incredible roars from Tiger Nation.

Cannon's Tigers began the game with an 8-0 run, but trailed 30-22 at halftime. In the opening half, guard Ben Galmore and forward Jo Perez led CCC in scoring as each scored six points.

The Tigers took control in the second half as sophomore guard Mook Harris hit four 3-pointers. Galmore and Kei Johnson contributed three 3-pointers each, while sophomore Quan Brown delivered one too. Coahoma's second half surge secured a 74-51 victory.

Galmore led CCC in scoring with 17 points off 5-of-10 shooting from 3-PT range. Harris finished with 14 points, while Johnson delivered an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double. Brown, who had multiple dunks, finished with 11 points.

CCC football wide receiver Leroy Hollingshed contributed six points, three offensive rebounds, and three steals in his debut game with the basketball team.

The Tigers advance to 1-1 on the season; Mississippi Delta is now 1-2.

Coahoma's next game is on Thursday night at the Pinnacle against Hinds. The matchup is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., and will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch.
