Lady Lions Outplay Lady Tigers

SCOOBA– Coahoma Community College went into the game against the EMCC Lady Lions wanting to prove themselves worthy in the MACJC North division. The Lady Lions made a big run in the first half and pulled away ultimately resulting in a 90-63 victory for EMCC, Thursday night at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. 

Coahoma struggled early with a score of 23-15, but Walneika Holmes soon woke up the Lady Tigers. Holmes scored five straight points cutting the lead to 23-20. East Mississippi (6-5, 1-1 MACJC North) outscored Coahoma 27-13 in the last 7:17 of the 1st half. Tyeisha Juhan scored an impressive 16 points in the 1st half. The Lady Lions led 50-33 at the half.

Holmes went on a scoring spree in the second half with 17 points. She led the Lady Tigers with 28 points with Nikkeria Harris backing her up scoring 11 points.

East Mississippi had four players in double figures. Juhan led the Lady Lions with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals. Brianna Page had 19 points and four rebounds. Kayla Rodgers had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jordanna Morris scored 11 points and three rebounds.

Coahoma goes to (2-10, 0-2 MACJC North) on the season. They will continue MACJC Northern Division action against Itawamba Community College. The game is set for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 in Fulton, MS.

It will be part of a doubleheader that's followed by Coahoma vs. Itawamba men's game at 8:00 p.m.

The game will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch. Pregame will be at 5:45pm.
