Wilson Powers Baseball Sweep of Southwest

Team scores 2 MACJC victories at home

CLARKSDALE — CCC Baseball earned 2 MACJC wins Sunday at home, downing Southwest MS 9-5 and 6-5. The wins were the first MACJC sweep of the season for Coahoma.

Eduardo Munoz led the team to victory in Game 1. The righty starter struck out 7 over 8 innings and allowed just 5 hits and 2 earned runs. CCC gave away an early 3-0 lead but bounced back to erase a 5-3 deficit courtesy of a solo home run by Marquellus Edgeston and a 2-RBI double by Hunter Wilson in the bottom of the 5th. The team added 3 insurance runs in the 8th to seal the win.

Wilson again came up big in Game 2. The first baseman went deep in the 2nd to establish a 6-1 lead for Coahoma. Bryan Pala pitched 6 innings, maintaining the lead for CCC before giving way to Wyatt Bailey to pick up the save in the 7th and final frame. Wilson finished with 5 RBIs in the game and 7 for the doubleheader.

Coahoma has added a DH at Rhodes to its schedule today and will travel to Holmes for a rescheduled game on Wednesday. The team's full schedule is available by clicking HERE.
