MEMPHIS — CCC Baseball earned another win in Memphis Monday, splitting a doubleheader with the Rhodes College JV Lynx. CCC fell in a narrow 8-7 defeat in Game 1 before bouncing back for a convincing 14-2 victory in the 2nd matchup.
CCC got out to an early lead in Game 1 before an 8-run 4th inning by Rhodes erased the 6-0 Tiger advantage. Hunter Wilson would finish the game with 2 RBIs. Hector Torres and Zac Gilder each had multi-hit games, and Latalo Newson hit a solo home run, but the Tigers could not complete the comeback effort.
The Coahoma attack in Game 2 was once again powered by Hunter Wilson, who smashed 5 RBIs to get up to 59 for the season, placing him among the leaders in NJCAA baseball. Hector Torres drove in 3 runs of his own, and CCC got 7 strong innings of work on the mound from Mason Avary and Chance Cotton, who combined to surrender just 2 runs on 4 hits.
The team returns to MACJC play tomorrow at Holmes starting at 1. A live stream will be available through http://holmesccmedia.com/.
