CLARKSDALE –Coahoma Community College was looking for their first victory of the season in their home opener Thursday Night. Copiah-Lincoln Community College was off to a good start to the season. The Lady Wolves shot the ball very well and outplayed the Lady Tigers to a 101-54 victory.
Co-Lin took early 9-0 lead and never looked back. Nikkeria Harris and Lameka President scored a pair of driving layups to cut the lead to 9-4. Then Harris scores a layup and three point play to cut the lead to 16-11.
The Lady Wolves started to pull away with a 19-4 run. Kyeonia Harris and Brittany Rose scores a pair of driving layups to take a 47-22 lead at the half.
Co-Lin exploded in the third quarter hitting 5-for-7 from the three point line. Rose and T'Kyra Hicks knock down consecutive three pointers. The Lady Wolves out scored the Lady Tigers 27-14 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 74-36 heading into the final quarter.
Walneika Holmes was lighting it up with 17 points in the second half. She knocked down two straight 3 pointers in route to scoring 21 points and four assists.
Co-Lin shot 48 percent from the field including eight 3 pointers. They had three players in double figures. Rose led the Lady Wolves with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. Hicks finished with 16 points and six assists. Alexandria Patton had 10 points and three rebounds.
Coahoma had three players in double figures. President finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Geneva Walker scored 10 points and three rebounds.
Coahoma goes to 0-4 on the season. The Lady Tigers will hit the road this Friday to play in the Johnny Vance Classic in Shreveport, LA. They will play Southern University of Shreveport This Friday Nov. 10, 2017 at 6pm. Then the Tigers will play Bossier Parish Community College on Saturday Nov. 11, 2017 at 12pm.
It will be part of a double header that's followed by Coahoma vs Southern University of Shreveport men's game at 8 p.m.
