Marion Military Gets Better Of Baseball Tigers In Alabama

Home team keeps CCC bats quiet in doubleheader

MARION, Ala.—CCC baseball dropped 2 games to Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL Sunday, falling 5-0 in Game 1 and 7-2 in Game 2.

Tiger hitters were flummoxed in Game 1 by MMI starter Blake Teel, who was able to hold the CCC bats mostly silent, allowing no runs on just 4 hits over 5 innings of work to earn his 3rd win of the year.

It was a different story for CCC starter Dustin Allen, who allowed 4 extra base hits and 5 runs in 2+ innings on his way to suffering his 1st loss of the season. Reliever Ben Hudson managed to hold the MMI attack down after entering the game in the 3rd, allowing only 1 hit the rest of the way, but the CCC offense simply could not make up the deficit. They stranded 6 runners and managed only 5 total hits in their 10th loss of 2015.

Game 2 featured Michael Allen, brother of Dustin, as the CCC starter. Michael allowed 7 runs, though only 2 earned, in 3 innings of work. His defense struggled behind him, committing 4 errors to help MMI race out to a 7-0 advantage.

The Tiger offense finally came alive in the 6th inning with Hudson Ross picking up his 3rd RBI of the season on a single that scored Corey O'Brien. CCC would add another in the 7th on an MMI error that allowed Matt Rappa to come across. Unfortunately, Coahoma would not get any closer, dropping another 5-run contest to the home squad.

With the wins, Marion moved to 11-7 on the year. Dax Winningham picked up the victory for them in Game 2. Their combo of CF Parker Farley and 1B Carson McGregory combined to pick up 5 RBI and score 4 runs in the doubleheader.

CCC returns to Clarksdale to continue its conference schedule March 14th with a doubleheader vs. East Central CC. Start time is slated for 12 pm.
