Box Score 2 The CCC Lady Tigers lost back-to-back games on the road to Meridian and Arkansas Baptist to close November and open December. Despite the losses, Eugenia Gilliam continued to shine for CCC, racking up 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in the November 23rd trip to Meridian and then netting 29 more at Arkansas Baptist. Gilliam has been honored as the MACJC Player of the Week for her spectacular performance.
The Lady Tigers got off to a hot start vs. the Lady Eagles last week in Meridian, starting the game on a 9-0 run. But Meridian would come roaring back, reeling off a 38-22 run the rest of the half to seize the advantage headed to the locker rooms. A tight second half made for an exciting finish, but the Lady Tigers ended up falling just short as Meridian notched the win, 70-64. Diamond Love finished with 11 points and Melvinisha Jenkins collected 14 boards, a season-high, in the effort.
After a week off for Thanksgiving, the team traveled to Arkansas Baptist Tuesday, December 1 for a matchuo with the Lady Buffs of Arkansas Baptist. Once again, Gilliam was dazzling, resetting her season-high once again with 29 points. It was the 3rd straight game that Gilliam has scored at least 27 and the 5th straight she has scored at least 20. Love would add 11 and Carnita Hammond would finish with 10, but the Lady Buffs' attack proved to be too much for CCC. Behind 18 points from Kalela Miller, Arkansas Baptist was able to avenge its November 10th defeat in Clarksdale by scoring the win in Little Rock, 85-69.
The losses dropped the Lady Tigers to 2-7 on the year. The squad returns to action tomorrow in The Pinnacle vs. Itawamba. Tip vs. the Lady Indians is slated for 6 pm.
