PERKINSTON, Miss. — The Coahoma Community College football team fell to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 27-21 in a hard-fought 7 p.m. season opener on Thursday, Aug. 27, inside A.L. May Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers generated 459 yards of total offense but could not overcome a second-half scoring run by the Bulldogs. Coahoma struck first in the opening quarter when quarterback Jacob Clopton connected with Jaden Moses for a 62-yard touchdown. Mississippi Gulf Coast immediately responded with a 69-yard rushing touchdown by Elijah Jones-Crosby to tie the game at 7-7.
The Bulldogs claimed the lead in the third quarter with a 44-yard touchdown pass and a 38-yard touchdown run. Clopton narrowed the deficit to 21-14 in the fourth quarter on a one-yard quarterback keeper. After Jones-Crosby broke loose for a 33-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs, Clopton found Demarcus Brown for a 39-yard touchdown pass as time expired to finalize the score at 27-21.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, Sept. 3, hosting Jones College for their home opener at James E. Miller Stadium.
