In front of a packed crowd at James Miller Stadium on Saturday, Coahoma Community College celebrated Homecoming and Sophomore Night with high energy, but despite a valiant effort, the Tigers fell 21-13 to Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Coahoma struck first in the second quarter when Brandon Johnson hauled in a 14-yard touchdown pass from Edwin Merriweather to take a 7-0 lead. 

Damion Gonzalez added a 31-yard field goal later in the quarter, sending the Tigers into halftime trailing 14-10. Gonzalez remained sharp in the fourth, drilling a 40-yard field goal to close the gap to 21-13.

On the ground, Immanuel Griffin led the rushing attack with 18 carries for 81 yards, while Merriweather passed for 80 yards, connecting with multiple targets. 

On defense, Samuel Jackson recorded nine tackles, and Brenton Hall forced a critical fumble recovery in the second half.

The Tigers are looking to bounce back in their next game against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, October 26th, at 3:30 PM in Perkinston, MS.
