Coahoma Community College has announced that Quinton Pippen will join the CCC women's basketball coaching staff as assistant coach.
A native of Hamburg, Arkansas, Pippen played a role in skill and player development at the University of Central Arkansas' women's basketball program prior to his appointment at CCC. He comes from a great basketball lineage. His uncle is NBA superstar and Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, with whom he has a great relationship. Additionally, Pippen has two cousins playing pro basketball: Scottie Pippen Jr., who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Kavion Pippen, who is associated with the NBA G League.
First-year CCC head women's basketball coach Shanae Govan-Williams is excited to welcome Pippen to her staff. She believes that he will bring much-needed skills in recruiting player development.
"I understand that recruiting is a crucial part of this job. I knew I needed someone who not only could coach but also who had connections and displayed hard work," said Govan-Williams. "Quinton Pippen, nephew of the NBA legend Scottie Pippen, has made a mark in Central Arkansas as one of the top trainers in the state as he has trained boys and girls on the highest level and helped them get athletic scholarships."
Govan-Williams is energized to inherit an already tough Lady Tigers program. She is confident that Pippen's background will pay huge dividends as they take on their 2023-2024 campaign.
"He just served as the skills and development coach at the University of Central Arkansas under Sandra Rushing and has a wealth of knowledge as it relates to his connections with student-athletes and finding and evaluating the best players," Govan-Williams added. "He also trains D1 student-athletes and semi-professional players as well. So, I knew this would be a game-changer for us at CCC."
Pippen is ready to get to work and make meaningful contributions to the Lady Tigers program. He is already finding himself comfortable as a member of Tiger Nation.
"It feels good to join the Tiger family! I'm very excited to get started," said Pippen. "Everyone has been very helpful, from the people I've talked to on the phone and from the first day I was on campus. I'm Itching to get started."
He describes himself as a change-maker and a coach who is highly invested in student-athlete success. He hopes to bring his energy and positive approach to a successful Lady Tigers squad.
"I'm looking to bring a lot to CCC my energy, knowledge of the game, training, recruiting, and competitive nature. I have relationships with a lot of people all over. I'm Just looking to give CCC everything I have," Pippen added.
Pippen is glad to be part of Coach Govan-Williams' staff. He sees her as a passionate leader and practitioner of the sport.
"It's two things that I admire the most about Coach Williams — her knowledge of the game of basketball and how she studies the game in and out, from big details to small details," Pippen said. "She also has fire. She may be small, but she has a lot of fire which makes her very competitive."
