The CCC softball team played its first home doubleheader of the 2022 regular season on Tuesday, March 1, as the Lady Tigers hosted Southwest Tennessee Community College.
In the opening game, Coahoma's Michelle Davenport tallied a double in the bottom of the second inning, but STCC did not allow Davenport to score.
Southwest Tennessee won the opening matchup 18-0 in five innings.
In the second matchup of the day, CCC trailed 2-1 after two innings of play. Coahoma tallied one run in the third inning, while STCC scored three runs.
Coahoma's C'Asia Grayer scored in the bottom of the fourth inning off an RBI single by Kahlena Hentz. CCC trailed 5-3 after four innings of play.
The Lady Tigers trailed 8-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. An RBI double with two outs by Ziay Graves allowed Kelcee Townsend to score, but Southwest Tennessee won 8-4 in seven innings.
Coahoma is now 0-4 (0-0 MACCC) this season.
