The Lady Tigers advance to the Region 23 semifinals with win over Co-Lin

The CCC women's basketball team defeated Copiah-Lincoln 65-54 tonight at the Pinnacle in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

The Lady Tigers trailed 32-24 at halftime, but outscored Co-Lin 41-20 in the second half to get victory. In the fourth quarter, Coahoma was 12-of-13 at the free-throw line.

CCC's Nakia Cheatham had a tremendous game with 20 points and 29 rebounds. Cheatham led all players in both categories. Ashanti Backus, Elishia Wilson, and Tiara Abron also scored in double figures for the Lady Tigers.

Coahoma recorded eight turnovers, while Copiah-Lincoln tallied 16. CCC scored 14 points off turnovers; Co-Lin recorded three.

The Lady Tigers are now 21-6 (11-3 MACCC) this season; Copiah-Lincoln is 17-9 (9-5 MACCC).

CCC will face Jones College in the semifinals on Thursday at Mississippi College.
