Box Score Yesterday, the CCC women's basketball team hosted Pearl River on Sophomore Night at the Pinnacle. Coahoma recognized sophomores Ashanti Backus, Jeanee Anderson, Rolonda Willis, Nakia Cheatham, and Mercedes Hayes before the game. The matchup featured an exciting game, which was won by the Lady Tigers 64-61 in overtime.
Coahoma trailed 23-15 after the opening quarter, but the Lady Tigers led 34-33 at halftime. Nakia Cheatham tallied three 3-pointers and one made free-throw in the third quarter, but each team scored 14 points in the quarter.
CCC led 60-57 with 8.8 seconds remaining in regulation, but Pearl River made a 3-pointer as time expired in the fourth quarter. The Lady Tigers allowed one point during OT en route to a 64-61 overtime win.
Cheatham led all scorers with 23 points. Tiara Abron, Brayland Ferguson, Elishia Wilson, Backus, Anderson, Willis, and Hayes also scored for CCC.
The Lady Tigers are now 16-5 (10-3 MACCC) this season; PRCC is 19-4 (12-2 MACCC). Coahoma will play its final game of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Pinnacle against Holmes.
