CCC defeats Itawamba 72-61

Box Score On Thursday night, the CCC women's basketball team played Itawamba Community College at the Pinnacle.

Coahoma's Tiara Abron and Ashanti Backus each scored seven points in the opening quarter. After the first quarter of play, the Lady Tigers led Itawamba 22-13.

In the second quarter, Nakia Cheatham – the reigning MACCC player of the week – led all scorers with nine points. ICC outscored CCC 17-15 in the second quarter, but Coahoma held a 37-30 lead at halftime.

Tiara Abron, Brayland Ferguson, Jeanee Anderson, Tiana Abron, Emmia Johnson, and Elishia Wilson each scored for the Lady Tigers in the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter, CCC held a double-digit lead 55-44.

Each team scored 17 points in the final quarter, and Coahoma picked up a 72-61 victory.

The Lady Tigers are 5-0 this season; Itawamba is 5-2.

CCC's next game is on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
