MEMPHIS- Coahoma Baseball has not played many games this season due to inclement weather. Nonetheless, Rhodes College and CCC met in an early-season doubleheader. The Tigers had a tough day against the Lynx. Rhodes gets the sweep on Coahoma in 6-3 and 12-1 victories.
In the 1st game, Coahoma out-hit Rhodes College eight to seven, but it wasn't enough in a 6-3 loss.
In the first inning, the Tigers got their offense started when
Josiah Rivera grounded out, scoring one run.
Rhodes College pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third, David Roos singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Kofi Whitehead singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, and Sam Roffwarg doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Patrick Morrison got the start for Rhodes College. He lasted two innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out two and walking zero.
Braden Qusinberry led things off on the hill for Coahoma. He went three innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one.
Anderson Wilder threw three innings out of the bullpen.
Coahoma tallied eight hits in the game.
Trey Thomas and
Rodney Hibler all collected multiple hits for the Tigers. Hibler and Thomas each managed two hits to lead Coahoma.
Whitehead led Rhodes College with two hits in three at-bats.
In the 2nd game, Coahoma watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-1 loss to Rhodes College.
Rhodes College scored on a double by Ryan Sullivan, a single by Mitchell O'Berry, a walk by Bryce Anderson, a single by Cole Constant, and a grand slam by Josh Esclamado in the first inning.
The Tigers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Lynx, giving up 12 runs.
Brett Bokelman was on the pitcher's mound for Rhodes College. He lasted five innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out three.

Kirby Ross toed the rubber for Coahoma. He went one-third of an inning, allowing eight runs on four hits and striking out one.
Matthew Moton threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Rodney Hibler led Coahoma with one hit in one at-bat.
David Roos went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Rhodes College in hits. The Lynx was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Anderson made the most plays with four.
Coahoma goes to 4-4 on the season. The Tigers will be playing in a round-robin doubleheader in Senatobia, Mississippi, on Friday, Mar. 6, 2020. They will take on Mississippi Delta Community College at 11:00 a.m. Then, the Tigers will take on Northwest Mississippi Community College at 5:00 p.m.
