Tigers Bounce Back Sweeping Eagles

WALNUT RIDGE- Coahoma Baseball traveled to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, for a Non-Conference matchup against Williams Baptist College. The Tigers got their 1st doubleheader sweep of the 2020 season with an (11-7, 10-5) victory.

In the 1st game, Rodney Hibler collected four hits in five at-bats, as Coahoma defeated Williams Baptist College 11-7. Hibler doubled in the first, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and tripled in the sixth.

The Tigers earned the victory despite allowing Williams Baptist College to score four runs in the seventh inning. Williams Baptist College big bats were led by Bralyn Owens and Seth Gage, all driving in runs in the inning.

Coahoma got things moving in the first inning when Cason Milliron drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Tigers notched four runs in the fourth inning. Singles led the rally by Josiah Rivera and Trey Thomas, a groundout by Zarin Cole, and a double by Alex Russell.

Kirby Ross led things off on the pitcher's mound for Coahoma. He surrendered three runs on two hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Alex O'Brien was on the mound for Williams Baptist College. He lasted one inning, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two. Cash Forrester, Eric Tolar, Ricardo Quintero, and Trey Brossett each entered the game as relief, throwing three innings, one inning, one inning, and one inning, respectively.

Coahoma tallied 15 hits in the game. Hibler, Russell, Thomas, and Cole each collected multiple hits for the Tigers.

In the 2nd game, despite allowing four runs in the second inning, Coahoma defeated Williams Baptist College 10-5. The offensive onslaught by Williams Baptist College led by Seth Gage and Bub Lance, who all drove in runs.

The Tigers got on the board in the first inning. Josiah Rivera singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Braden Qusinberry led things off on the pitcher's mound for Coahoma. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out nine and walking one.

Chris Hassel toed the rubber for the Eagles. He went one-third of an inning, allowing nine runs on seven hits and walking zero. Caiden McFadden and Blain Willard entered the game from the bullpen, throwing six innings and two-thirds of an inning, respectively.

Coahoma scattered 12 hits in the game. Luke Treadway, Rivera, Alex Russell, Josh Ethridge, and Rodney Hibler all had multiple hits. Hibler, Ethridge, Russell, Rivera, and Treadway each managed two hits to lead the Tigers.

Coahoma goes to 2-2 on the season.
