Rogers and Love Combine For 31 In Scooba

Lady Tigers drop contest 66-61 after East stages late comeback

SCOOBA -- Kayla Rogers turned in a solid 17 point, 8 rebound performance, but the CCC Basketball Lady Tigers dropped their February 6th matchup at East Mississippi 66-61 Monday. Diamond Love chipped in 14 points of her own in the loss.

The Lady Tigers were the better team early, outscoring East 19-9 in the 1st quarter and taking a 41-26 lead to halftime. Rogers scored 9 of her points in the game's 1st 10 minutes but was limited for the middle stretch of the game due to foul trouble.

East trimmed the lead to 50-47 going to the 4th. The Lady Lions were led in the game by Quantesha Patterson, who scored 23 points, and Ty Juhan, who added 20 points and 9 rebounds of her own. Annissia May scored 15.

A tight game to the end, East led by 3 with under 10 seconds to go. A 3-point look by Tya Edwards to tie the game narrowly missed, and the Lady Lions sealed the game with late free throws.

Melvinisha Jenkins finished with 11 points for the Lady Tigers and now has scored in double figures for the 6 straight games. Rogers has now scored in double digits in 5 of the last 7. Diamond Love scored 14 for the 3rd time in the last 5 games.

The win helped the Lady Lions improve to 11-6 overall and 6-2 in MACJC North play. The loss dropped the Lady Tigers to 1-17 and 0-8 in the division.
