SCOOBA -- Malik Bailey poured in 18 points but the CCC Basketball Tigers dropped their Monday MACJC North contest at East Mississippi 82-52. Shannon Bailey had 9 points and Frank Anthony had 8 in the loss.
East Mississippi was led by David McFarland, who netted 15 points. Anterio McKines netted 13 and Ill'Yan Scott added 12 of his own to help East improve to 7-10 overall and 3-5 in MACJC North division play.
Anthony scored 5 of the 1st 6 points for the Tigers, and CCC fought hard in the 1st half. A last second 3 by Job Vernor helped EMCC transform an 8-point lead into an 11-point advantage at half.
A sluggish start offensively doomed Coahoma in the 2nd half. East would outscore the Tigers 37-18 in the final period. CCC shot just 25% from the field for the game while East enjoyed a strong shooting night at 48%.
Malik Bailey scored in double figures for the 4th time in the last 5 games and for the 6th time since the Tigers began their 2nd semester schedule January 9th. The freshman also matched his season-high with 4 steals. Malik Woods passed out 4 assists while grabbing 2 rebounds.
The loss sunk the Tigers to 1-7 in MACJC North play and 3-17 overall. CCC Basketball returns to action Monday, Febraury 13th at Itawamba. Tip in the men's game vs. the Indians is scheduled for 8 pm.
