CLARKSDALE — CCC Tiger Basketball could not overcome a late 1st half surge by Holmes Thursday in The Pinnacle, falling 88-76 to the Bulldogs despite a season-high 19 points by Tarquise Harris. Malik Bailey and Malik Woods each added 10 points in the loss.

CCC got off to a great start, building a lead as large as 8 in the opening minutes. The team led for the majority of the 1st half before Holmes reeled off a deflating 17-0 run that started with just over 6 minutes left. The Bulldogs took a 41-33 lead to the locker rooms.

Harris was brilliant attacking the rim, impressing with multiple "and-1" finishes. The Tigers played Holmes even in the game's 2nd 20 minutes, with each team scoring 43 points, but the team could not overcome the late 1st half surge.

Holmes was led by Justin Johnson, who scored 23 points on 10 of 11 shooting from the field. Mikkel Norment finished 8 of 9 from the field on his way to 21 points. Tre Spencer finished with 17 points.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 3-14 and 1-4 in MACJC North play. The win improved Holmes to 9-7 overall and 3-2 in divisional play.
