SENATOBIA - Malik Bailey dropped 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, but Tiger Basketball fell to Northwest 80-65 Monday in Senatobia. The team will return to Clarksdale on Thursday vs. Holmes.
Bailey helped CCC to a solid start, shooting 5 of 8 from the field in the 1st half. A last second 3 gave Northwest a 6-point advantage going to the break. LeDarius Woods had 8 points for the Tigers in the 1st half.
Northwest came out strong in the 2nd, building a double-digit lead behind Therrell Gosier II, who scored 10 of his team-high 17 in the game's 2nd 20 minutes. Also contributing for Northwest were Brandon Cranford (11 points), Isaiah Austin (10 points) and Dante Sterling (10 points). Northwest used a number of 2nd chances around the rim to fuel the victory. The team finished with 28 2nd chance points.Â
Each team struggled shooting the basketball. Neither finished over 35% from the field. Milovan Topalovic led the Tigers in rebounding with a season-high 12. He also had 2 assists and a blocked shot. Cortavious Miller grabbed 10 boards of his own. LeDarius Woods finished with 10 points, getting him to 200 total in 2016-17.
With the win, Northwest improved to 10-4 on the year and 3-2 in divisional play. The loss dropped CCC to 3-13 and 1-3 in the MACJC North.
