WESSON - The CCC Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln 96-42 in Wesson Monday in the first game of the team's 2nd semester schedule. Diamond Love finished with 12 points and 3 steals.
Playing in front of their home crowd, the Lady Wolves raced out to a 26-8 lead in the 1st quarter and increased the lead to 49-22 at half. The team was led by Kerry Callahan, who finished with 15 points on 7 of 14 shooting from the field. As a squad, Co-Lin shot 51% from the field and finished with 5 players in double figures to improve to 8-1 on the season.
Love's strong performance featured 2 3's in 34 minutes of game action. Dana Brown played all 40 minutes for the Lady Tigers, accumulating 8 points and 2 steals. Carnita Hammond knocked down 5 of her 6 free throws in 19 minutes on her way to 7 points.Â
The Lady Tigers (1-10, 0-1 MACJC North) will seek their first divisional win Thursday at home vs. East Mississippi. The team upset East, then the MACJC North's top seed, 80-70 at home last season. CCC Basketball will celebrate its homecoming Saturday, January 21st with a full schedule of festivities and fun. The teams will take on Southern University - Shreveport at 1 pm and 3 pm, and the day will also feature the induction of the Coahoma Community College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017.Â
