Lady Tigers Fall To East Mississippi, Prep For Itawamba

Kayla Rogers scores 16 points, grabs 6 rebounds vs. EMCC

CLARKSDALE — The CCC Lady Tigers fell to the East Mississippi Lady Lions 88-62 in The Pinnacle Thursday evening. Kayla Rogers finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

East Mississippi jumped out to a 24-13 lead after 1 quarter behind strong performances from Ty Juhan, who would finish the contest with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Quantesha Patterson, who poured in 24 points while also pulling down 10 boards. The duo helped the Lady Lions to a 51-26 halftime advantage and, ultimately, their 7th win of the season and their 2nd in MACJC North play.

Playing without fellow post player Nikerria Harris, Kayla Rogers held her own inside vs. the tough Lady Lions front line. The contest was the 9th time this season that the freshman forward has scored in double figures. Tya Edwards finished with 11 points, and Dana Brown and Carnita Hammond each chipped in 10.

The Lady Tigers (1-11, 0-2 MACJC North) return to action Thursday, January 19th at home vs. Itawamba. Tip vs. the Lady Indians is slated for 6 pm. A live stream will be available at coahomasports.com/watch.

CCC Basketball will celebrate its homecoming Saturday, January 21st with a full schedule of festivities and fun. The teams will take on Southern University - Shreveport at 1 pm and 3 pm, and the day will also feature the induction of the Coahoma Community College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
