Tiger Basketball Suffers Late Season Losses vs. East, NWCC

Team returns for final home game Monday

CLARKSDALE/SENATOBIA - CCC Tiger Basketball dropped 2 games this week, falling to East MS by a final of 85-76 on Monday at home and then to Northwest by a final of 85-73 Thursday in Senatobia.

Dewuan Fowler scored 20 in the contest vs. East Monday, but the Lions used big games by Jahyde Gardiner and Juan Davis Jr. to notch their 16th win of the year. The visitors got off to a fast start, taking a 53-34 lead into the locker rooms.

A potent 3-point attack would help CCC back into the contest. The team finished with 14 made 3's and cut the East lead to 72-71 with just over 5 minutes to go. But a final run by the Lions put them over the top and sent CCC to its 8th MACJC North loss.

Gardiner led the way with 24 points for the Lions and Davis contributed 22. Fowler finished with 20 points for the 5th time this season. Cortavious Miller chipped in with 11.

At Northwest on Thursday, CCC roared out of the gate, using first half scoring contributions from Miller and Dontavius Self to open up a 37-33 lead at halftime. The lead would not hold, however, as Northwest recovered at intermission and opened up the 2nd hot behind stellar play from Tyrin Jones, who racked up a season-high 32 points. The Rangers kept CCC at arm's length down the stretch to move to 15-7 on the year.

CCC got a solid performance from Trevious Allen, who put up 14 points and 10 rebounds (6 offensive). Self finished with 9. Fowler and Da'Quan Forrest each added 8.

The Tigers (4-17, 1-9 MACJC North) return to The Pinnacle Monday for their final home game of the year. Tip vs. Northeast on Sophomore Night is slated for 8 pm.
