CLARKSDALE - The CCC Lady Tigers got 19 points from Tomaja Shaw Monday in The Pinnacle but could not overcome a big 1st half by Northeast that led to a 76-59 win for the visitors. CCC closes its 1st semester schedule December 12th at Jones County Junior College.
Northeast took a 45-32 lead to halftime, mostly on the strength of a 25-16 2nd quarter. CCC held the visitors to 14 and 17 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters respectively but could not overcome the early deficit.Â
Shaw was money for Coahoma, knocking down 5 3-pointers on her way to a personal season-high 19 points. Tya Edwards chipped in 11 points of her own on 3 3's. Melvinisha Jenkins grabbed 9 boards for CCC, the 5th straight game that the sophomore has finished with at least 7 rebounds.Â
Northeast was led by the trio of Timaya Stewart, Shelby Wilbanks, and Aundrea Adams. Stewart racked up a game-high 20 points, and Wilbanks and Adams accumulated 19 and 16 respectively. Wilbanks also grabbed 11 rebounds.
The win improved Northeast to 3-3 overall this season. The loss dropped Coahoma to 1-8.Â
CCC will reset and prepare for its final game of the 1st semester at Jones on December 12th. The team's rematch vs. the Lady Bobcats, who earned an 81-55 victory in The Pinnacle December 1st, is set for 4 pm.Â
