Tiger Basketball Can't Overcome Late Surge By Northeast

Miller finishes with 11 points, Anthony with 9 points, 7 dimes

CLARKSDALE - The CCC Basketball Tigers fell to Northeast 72-65 in their MACJC North Division opener Monday in The Pinnacle. Cortavious Miller netted 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting, but NEMCC closed the contest on a 12-0 run in the final 3:54 to steal a win.

CCC established a 36-31 lead heading into the halftime break, but Northeast proved too much down the stretch. The visitors won the 2nd half 41-29 on the strength of a final run that began shortly after Coahoma took a 65-60 lead with just under 4 minutes to go.

Frank Anthony narrowly missed a double-double, scoring 9 points and dishing out 7 assists in 33 minutes. LeDarius Woods and Quatavis Henderson each finished with 8 points. Northeast was led by Darius Williams, who scored 20 points and grabbed 6 boards in 30 minutes. Kendarius Smith racked up 15 points and 3 assists.

The win improved Northeast to 6-1. The W was the team's 1st on the road this season. The loss dropped Coahoma to 2-8. 

CCC returns to action Monday, December 12th at 6 pm at Jones County Junior College for a rematch of the December 1st contest between the 2 sides that saw Jones earn a 97-69 win in The Pinnacle. The contest will be the final for CCC before the winter break. Play will resume after the winter hiatus January 9th at Copiah-Lincoln.
