CLARKSDALE - Coahoma Community College Tiger Basketball defeated Co-Lin 98-94 in an OT thriller Monday in The Pinnacle behind 26 points and 5 steals from LeDarius "DJ" Woods. The 26-point explosion by Woods was a game-high for a Tiger this season.
CCC got off to a sluggish start, with Co-Lin racing out to an early 9-0 lead. But the rest of the half belonged to the home team behind Woods, who led the squad to a 56-50 advantage going to the locker rooms.
The Wolfpack battled back, using a balanced offensive attack that featured 5 players in double figures to take a late lead in the game's 2nd 20 minutes. But with 31 seconds remaining, Woods came up clutch, knocking down a huge corner triple to tie the game at 86 and help force the first overtime period this season for CCC Basketball.
Coahoma outscored the Wolves 12-8 in extra time to seal the win. Point guard Frank Anthony continued his strong play in the final frame, orchestrating the offense to the win on his way to finishing with his 1st double-double of the season (19 points, 10 assists). Late clutch free throws by fellow guard Malik Woods helped seal the victory.
Sophomore guard Shannon Bailey chipped in 12 total points and sophomore forward Cortavious Miller added 14 of his own on 5 of 10 shooting from the field. Milovan Topalovic netted a season-high 13 to go along with a half dozen rebounds. Co-Lin was led by LeMarcus Lee and Vincent Phillips, each of whom accumulated 19 points.
