CLARKSDALE - The CCC Tigers earned their first MACJC North win of the season by defeating MS Delta 93-86 in overtime Monday at home. Shannon Bailey scored a season-high 30 points and LaTerrence Henderson racked up a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double to help defeat the Trojans.
The two squads battled closely all contest. The game was tied at 35 at the break and would be deadlocked at 74 at the second buzzer, sending the Tigers to their first OT game of the season.
Henderson was key early for the Tigers, grabbing 7 boards and putting up 9 points in the first half. In the second, Bailey came to life. The freshman from Jackson poured in 24 points in the second half and OT on his way to a season-high 30. He knocked down 3 overtime 3's, helping the Tigers to outscore Delta 19-12 in the extra frame. Bailey joined Dewuan Fowler as the second Tiger this year to post 30 in a game this season.
Delta was led by Dantaveous Crawford, who scored 24 points and passed out 10 assists before fouling out in OT. The loss dropped Delta to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in MACJC North play.
CCC (4-13, 1-5 MACJC North) head to Itawamba on Thursday to battle the Indians for the second time this year. Tip is scheduled for 8 pm.
