BOONEVILLE - Shannon Bailey poured in a season-high 17 points and Cortavious Miller added 13 but CCC could not hold off a late second-half Northeast run, going down 85-71 in Booneville Thursday. Bailey has now scored 30 points over the last 2 games.
The 5th MACJC North matchup of the year for the CCC men started off on a promising note. They hung tough with the 11-4 NEMCC squad behind strong performances by Bailey, who nailed 3 3's in the game's first 20 minutes, and Monte Martin, who posted 8 points in the 1st.
The NEMCC lead at the break stood at 4, and CCC was able to trim it to 2 before an NEMCC run opened the game up. Leading 39-37 a minute into the second half, Northeast reeled off 23-12 run over the next 7 minutes and did not look back. They were by Wesley Harris, who finished with 19 points and 8 boards, and Leroy Buchanon, who netted 13 while pulling down a dozen rebounds.
Cortavious Miller notched his second straight double-digit scoring game by racking up 13 points for CCC, and Monte Martin registered his 2nd double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in the last 3 games.Â
Northeast improved to 12-4 overall and 4-1 in the MACJC North with the win. CCC (3-13, 0-5 MACJC North) returns to the Pinnacle Monday vs. rival MS Delta at 8 pm.
