CCC Baseball Goes Out In 2015 With Win At Northeast

Diamond Tigers use great start from Short, big swing from Lindsey to earn win

BOONEVILLE— The Tiger baseball squad finished their 2015 season with a victory at Northeast, putting a cap on the season with a resounding 11-4 win in Game 2 of the doubleheader in Booneville. Garrett Short went 7 innings and Caleb Lindsey teed off for a 3-run blast in the CCC finale.

Game 1 in Booneville went to the NEMCC squad. Dustin Allen gutted his way through an 8-inning performance for the CCC side in the contest but his defense committed 3 errors behind him to help Northeast earn a victory on Sophomore Day in Booneville.

Zach Morris finished with 3 RBI in the contest, knocking in Luis Colon twice and bringing his RBI total on the season into double digits.

Game 2 started promisingly for Coahoma. They built Short an early 4-0 advantage behind an Adam Cook, who picked up an RBI single in the 1st and 2 RBI on a double in the 2nd.

Short would surrender 3 in the 3rd, but settled back down, allowing just 1 run the rest of the way en route to his 2nd complete game in a row and his 3rd of the season.

Caleb Lindsey highlighted the Tiger attack, scoring 3 times and launching a 3-run homerun off Trace Lee in the 5th inning to help put the game away for CCC. Lindsey finishes the season as the team leader in runs scored with 23.

Hudson Ross finished with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI in the contest. The catcher/outfielder/first baseman led the team in average (.381), hits (51), and RBI (16), among other categories, this season.

In picking up the W, Short helped the CCC squad earn its 7th victory of the season and its 5th in conference play. It was the 3rd victory of the year for Short personally.

The squad, which graduates 9 sophomores, will take part in the CCC Athletics Banquet on Wednesday, April 29th.
